Batrakov linked with Arsenal and Liverpool after reported Lille scouting visit
Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly watched Batrakov against Lille. A claimed £50m contract clause highlights the distinction between scouting interest and a formal offer.
Galatasaray’s 4-2 away win at Lille has brought Aleksey Batrakov into the English transfer spotlight. According to TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, Arsenal and Liverpool representatives watched the 21-year-old midfielder from the stands in France. Batrakov had made it 2-2 with a header in the 44th minute.

Two clubs reportedly watched in person
The report also names Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United as clubs monitoring the player. It does not say all five sent representatives to the Lille match. The reported Arsenal and Liverpool scouting visit should not be presented as the same level of involvement as the other three clubs’ interest.
A £50m clause is not a completed transfer
TEAMtalk also claims his contract contains a release clause of approximately £50m for moves to Europe’s four leading leagues. That figure should not be read as a completed agreement announced by the clubs. The report describes sanctions affecting Russia-linked transfers as an earlier obstacle; the player’s presence in Turkey does not establish that every condition for a potential move has automatically been met.
Consistency is what matters to me
Scoring against Lille after also finding the net against Barcelona is notable. I look beyond the exposure of a single evening: can he take responsibility in different phases of play and sustain that contribution? For Galatasaray, the discussion should concern more than a possible sale price; it should include how to develop this emerging creative role. A scouting report is a starting point. A formal bid and the club’s decision are separate stages.
