Turkey’s wrestlers take nine medals in Las Vegas with four final appearances
Turkey finished the U23 World Wrestling Championships with four silver and five bronze medals. Wrestlers reached the podium nine times across three disciplines.
The U23 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas ended with nine medals for Turkey. The national squad took four silvers and five bronzes across freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling.
How the nine medals were shared
Bekir Keser and Ahmet Yağan in freestyle, Şevval Çayır in women’s wrestling and Azat Sarıyar in Greco-Roman reached finals and won silver. Abdullah Toprak, Elmira Yasin, Alperen Berber, Servet Angi and İbrahim Özdemir finished the competition with bronze medals.
ForzaGolazo’s assessment of the outcome
What stands out to me is that podium success was not confined to a single discipline. Medals in three categories show a broader group of athletes competing at a high level in the U23 age group.
The fact that four finals did not produce a gold medal is a separate point to assess alongside the overall success. Technical analysis of the matches should determine the lessons; a definitive performance judgment should not be drawn from medal numbers alone.
The young national squad’s result in Las Vegas provides a starting point worth following ahead of future international competitions.
