Austin takes a sprint break as the US Grand Prix returns to a standard weekend
Formula 1’s United States Grand Prix on 23–25 October will run without a sprint. Austin will host three practice sessions, qualifying and the main race.
Formula 1 turns its attention to Austin this week. The United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas on 23–25 October will not use the sprint format, unlike the previous three editions.

The weekend racing schedule
After hosting sprint weekends in 2023, 2024 and 2025, the circuit returns to a standard schedule. Two practice sessions are planned for Friday, a third practice session and qualifying for Saturday, and the 56-lap race for Sunday.
Fans following the weekend need to reassess the timetable. For teams, three practice sessions also provide a different preparation structure from the condensed sprint format.
From preparation to race pace
What I will be watching in Austin is how teams turn preparation time into race pace. A fast practice lap alone will not reveal Sunday’s result; tyre management and consistency over long runs will also matter.

US Grand Prix session times vary by country. Viewers following from Turkey or Austria should check the local-time display in the current official schedule.
