Jermaine Pennant describes dog attack and treatment requiring over 50 stitches
The former Liverpool player says he was hurt while protecting his dog in north London. In his account, King then intervened to protect him.
Jermaine Pennant has described being injured by a dog while walking his own dogs in north London. BBC Sport reported on 26 October that he first tried to protect King; after the attacking dog latched on to his leg, King intervened.
That reversal is the striking detail in Pennant’s account. The former Liverpool and Arsenal player credited his pet with preventing a worse outcome. This assessment is his own account, rather than an independently established medical conclusion.
Pennant told The Sun that hospital treatment for the wounds required more than 50 stitches. He thanked King and his partner for their support.
BBC places the incident in the previous week. An exact incident date and any new decision on surgery have not been independently verified here. The illustration is an archive photograph from Liverpool’s official website, not the attack or hospital treatment.
