Sergen Yalçın linked with Turkey job as attention turns to the TFF
Reports say Sergen Yalçın has been offered the Turkey national team job. Confirmation of an official appointment and contract terms is still awaited.
Reports have emerged that Sergen Yalçın has been offered the position of head coach of Turkey’s senior national team. Media coverage dated 19 October 2026 said the decision was expected to become clear after a TFF board meeting anticipated for Tuesday 20 October.

The confirmed development and the decision still awaited
The TFF announced on 10 October 2026 that it would not continue with Vincenzo Montella. However, no official announcement confirming Yalçın’s appointment or contract terms could be verified when this article was prepared. There is therefore not yet sufficient confirmation to treat the reported offer as a completed appointment.
ForzaGolazo analysis
For me, the plan with which a new coach takes charge matters as much as the name. Working time with a national team is limited, and the players’ roles at their clubs need to be brought together around a shared footballing idea. When discussing the possibility of Yalçın, I find it more useful to focus on the footballing approach and the coaching structure than on the name alone.
