Haas bring an Austin surprise as Godzilla changes the colours on track
Haas will race with a special Godzilla-themed livery at the US Grand Prix. The project brings Formula 1 and cinema culture together over the Austin weekend.
Austin’s visual talking points are already taking shape ahead of the weekend. Haas announced that Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon’s VF-26 cars will wear a special Godzilla-themed livery for the United States Grand Prix.

The details of the Godzilla design
Following the first stage of the TOHO collaboration at the Japanese Grand Prix, the project moves to America. The new design is based on the Godzilla Minus Zero theme, adding light-blue details to the previous predominantly white, black and red appearance.
The collaboration extends beyond the colours of the cars. Special racewear and fan merchandise are also part of the campaign. The team aims to connect its race weekend with a wider audience through cinema and popular culture.
Design interest and racing performance
What I find interesting is a car’s ability to tell a story away from the track as well. For supporters who follow Formula 1 for more than results alone, these designs provide another connection that makes a team’s identity visible.

Of course, a new appearance cannot be said to change racing performance. The attention generated by the design and the result achieved on track in Austin will be assessed separately.
